18th International Conference of Emerging Nuclear Energy System held in Hefei, Anhui

TIME:2017-05-10

18th International Conference on Emerging Nuclear Energy System (ICENES) hosted by Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety Technology (INEST), Chinese Academy of Sciences was successfully held in the Hefei Science Island on 24-27 April, 2017. More than 200 experts and scholars who are from the United States, European Union, Japan, South Korea and more than other 20 countries attended the conference.

The Nobel Prize winner Dr. Carlo Rubbia and the other experts discussed in depth about the development of lead-based reactor and other Generation IV fission nuclear systems, fusion energy, advanced fuel cycle and other aspects. In order to develop nuclear energy efficiently and sustainably, It is necessary to resolve the nuclear safety problem at its source has become a broad consensus in the conference.

In order to solve the key problems for nuclear energy development such as nuclear safety, disposal of nuclear waste, limitation of fuel resources and economic competitiveness, advanced and innovative nuclear energy system should be a viable way. ICENES, with the major goal on the promotion and development of advanced and innovative nuclear energy systems, has an important impact around the world. This is the first time that ICENES held in China in the past 17 times.

The conference was also supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), International Energy Agency (IEA), Generation IV International Forum (GIF), ITER Organization, American Nuclear Society (ANS), OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (OECD-NEA), China Center of Advanced Science and Technology World Laboratory, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Society of Reactor Physics and Nuclear Material, Chinese Nuclear Physical Society, and other agencies.
