“The 4th Workshop on Self-reliance of Chinese Nuclear Energy Software”, hosted by Society of Reactor Physics and Nuclear Material, Chinese Nuclear Physics Society and organized by Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety Technology (INEST), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)·FDS Team (hereinafter referred to as "FDS Team"), was successfully held in Scientific Island, Hefei, China on 4th Nov., 2015. Over 50 experts and scholars from more than 10 institutions including Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center of Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP), Nuclear Power Institute of China (NPIC), State Nuclear Power Software Development Center (SNPSDC), China Nuclear Power Technology Research Institute (CNPRI) and so on participated in the workshop.
On the workshop, remarkable achievements of China self-reliance nuclear energy software were reported. Two guidance regulations on the development of China nuclear safety software were upcoming. China self-reliance design programs for the generation III reactors in NPIC, SNPSDC and CNPRI were all at the status of verification and validation. The Super Monte Carlo Simulation Program for Nuclear and Radiation Process (SuperMC) developed by FDS Team became the first nuclear software which went abroad and gained international large-scale applications in 50 nations and 23 major nuclear facilities.
FDS Team has long been focused on the development of self-reliance nuclear energy programs. Its Nuclear Software Research Center has more than 150 members including 6 Thousand Talents Program specialists, and 80% of the R&D personals have the PhD degree. It has made an important contribution for China self-reliance nuclear energy software, and has developed 20 professional nuclear energy programs in three categories such as the simulation of fundamental physical problems, interactive design and optimization, and multi-process integrated comprehensive simulation, after a long-term continuous development with over 800 person-year investment.
