The“16^th Generation IV International Forum Lead-Cooled Fast Reactor provisional System Steering Committee meeting (16th GIF LFR pSSC meeting)”hosted by Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (INEST, CAS) was held on 10-12 December, 2014, in Hefei, Anhui, China. About 20 representatives from LFR MoU members (Euratom, Russia, Japan) and observers (China, Korea, US) attended the meeting. Aside from providing each participation country with a platform for reporting the latest LFR R&D progress, the design criteria draft of LFR and the updated LFR safety white paper was also discussed during the meeting. On this basis, the representatives expected to confirm the GIF LFR system research plan and achieve a reinforced coordination among the member countries.

GIF organization with the aim of developing the Generation IV nuclear system was founded in 2000. The LFR pSSC dedicated tostrengthen the communication among the participation countries and motivate the development of the LFR. The INEST, as the Chinese observer, has joint in the LFR pSSC activities since March 2012.
