Research Areas and Projects: 

Prof. Wu has been working on theory, modeling, experiments, design, and analysis of advanced nuclear systems, and has been involved in both basic and applied research mainly concentrating on the areas of nuclear science and engineering, medical physics and application, computer simulation and software engineering, and other interdisciplinary research. As the leader or chief-scientist, he has been in charge of more than 30 domestic and international scientific research projects, particularly the projects in the framework of the national “863” (High-Tech) and “973” (Basic Research) programs of China, the Strategic Priority Research Program of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the international cooperation program of International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER).

He has been serving a number of important positions or working as an expert member in domestic and international organizations, such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Organization, International Energy Agency (IEA), Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST), National Energy Bureau, Chinese Nuclear Society, and China Society of Radiation Protection, etc.

He has published more than 400 papers in journals and international conferences, including Nature Energy, Nuclear Fusion, Energy Policy, Engineering, Journal of Nuclear Materials, Annals of Nuclear Energy, Fusion Engineering and Design, etc., and 6 papers have been selected into the list of “Highly Cited Papers (last 10 years)” by “Essential Science Indicators (ESI)”.
