The opening ceremony Hefei Science and Technology Center of Physical, jointly organized by Hefei Institutes of Physical Science(CASHIPS), Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) and University of Science and Technology of China(USTC), was held in Hefei Science Island on the morning of September 28, Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and College of Environmental Science and photoelectric technology of USTC inaugurated at the same time, Bai Chunli, President and the party secretary of CAS, delivered an important speech for inauguration of the center, Zhan Wenlong, vice dean of CAS, presided over the ceremony.

Ensure that nuclear safety is the premise and the highest criteria for the development of nuclear power. The nuclear safety further aroused widespread concern around the world after the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident happened in Japan, China is the world's fastest-growing countries on nuclear energy, and Steady progress in the rapid development of nuclear energy has become a top priority under the premise of ensuring nuclear safety. The INEST, jointly organized by CASHIPS and USTC, is the first nuclear-named Institute Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute, is also China's first professional institute for direct nuclear safety-oriented important direction.

Bai Chunli, CAS President, media interview that the CASHIPS and USTC have significant advantages in neutron physics methods and technology, environmental protection and nuclear reactor materials, nuclear power plant safety and risk assessment research areas in both international and domestic dominance, and the two jointly undertake projects and major a series of major scientific and technological research program tasks, including the CAS strategic Pilot special - the future of advanced nuclear fission energy "ADS Transmutation Systems" project and international science and technology cooperation plan of "International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER)" project, with the joint establishment of related research institutions in the field of nuclear safety advantages. The FDS team ( www.fds.org.cn ) is the main force of the nuclear safety-related fields of research and personnel training, has an important influence at home and abroad, will play a more important role in the future. 
INEST will close around the major scientific and technological Scheduled Tasks "ADS special" and "ITER project", for the key scientific and technical issues in the field of nuclear safety including neutron physics, thermal hydraulics, nuclear material, nuclear safety, and environmental impact assessment methods,nuclear waste management methods,Radiation protection, health physics and nuclear energy design simulation software to carry out basic, forward-looking, strategic research, and to promote the efficient and safe application of nuclear energy, and to  build the advanced reactor design and safety technology research base, with the international advanced level of technical support base of the safety standards and evaluation of nuclear energy systems, nuclear safety technology research and senior management talent training base to support the sustainable development of China's nuclear energy.
