Auther: Count: Update time: 2014-09-22

Technical Meeting(TM) on “Accelerator Driven System Applications and Use of Low-Enriched Uranium in ADS”, sponsored by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), organized by Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (INEST), was held from Sep. 8 to 11 in Hefei. More than 40 scientists from 10 Member States of IAEA attended the meeting.
Introductory remarks were offered by Dr. Yican Wu (Director of INEST), Mr. Jiabin Bao (Official from China Atomic Energy Agency), and Dr. Wenlong Zhan (Vice-president of Chinese Academy of Sciences), representing the meeting’s host country, as well as by Mr. Pablo Adelfang (the Scientific Secretary, IAEA) and Mr. Mohamed Y.A. Gohar (Chairman of the meeting, USA).
During the meeting, participants formally involved in the Collaborative Work Program (CWP) provided oral technical presentations each on their work. They offered details and results from research activities in their Member States programs related to accelerator driven sub-critical assemblies and low-enrichment conversion activities under the auspices of the CWP. Meanwhile, a series of potential technique cooperation proposals in the framework of CWP was discussed and primarily confirmed in the meeting.
The present CWP meeting was officially adjourned on Thursday, 11th September, following a discussion of potential venues, Kharkov, Ukraine, for the next meeting in about one and half year later. After the meeting, the participants visited Liquid Heavy Metal Loops and Materials Technology Laboratory and Nuclear and Radiation Safety Simulation Laboratory of INEST•FDS Team.
The success of this meeting enhanced the international collaborative research in the field of ADS.
