The 12th Symposium on Materials for Advanced Energy Systems and Fission & Fusion Engineering (CJS-12) held in Shizuoka Japan from Sept.17 to Sept.20 2014. There were about 80 experts, from China and Japan attending this symposium. CJS is held every two years in Japan and China alternatively and becomes an important symposium for scientists to communicate on the materials research, technologies development and related issues for advanced fission & fusion systems including ITER.

Prof. Qunying Huang and other four researchers from FDS Team attended this symposium. Prof. Huang gave an invited presentation “Design and R&D Activities of Liquid Lead Lithium Blanket for Fusion Reactor in China”. Four oral presentations from other researchers of FDS Team introduced the recent progress on reactor design, CLAM steel qualification, and nuclear reactor materials in FDS Team. The recent work done by FDS Team and the performance of young researchers attracted the interests of research community. The young scientist award was held during the symposium and Associate Prof. Chunjing Li and PhD Yanyun Zhao from FDS Team won this reward.

On the closing ceremony, Prof. Qunying Huang, the co-chair of the CJS, addressed the thanks and congratulations for the successful holding symposium, and then introduced the tentative plan for the next CJS in Hefei. All experts show great interest on attending the meeting.
