High Intensity D-T Fusion Neutron Generator Power Supply Developed by INEST·FDS Team Awarded the First Prize of Sci-tech Progress of China Power Supply Society

On November 7, 2015, the 3nd China Power Supply Society Science and Technology Awards ceremony and the 21st China Power Supply Society Conference was held in Shenzhen. “350KV ultrahigh voltage DC switching power supply using in high intensity D-T fusion neutron generator” developed by Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety, Chinese Academy of Sciences·FDS Team(hereinafter referred to as "FDS Team") Awarded the first prize of scientific and technological progress.

High intensity D-T fusion neutron generator (HINEG) is the important platform using in advanced nuclear technology research. As the core component supplying energy to HINEG, ultrahigh voltage DC switching power supply must achieve high voltage, high power, high reliability and low ripple of technical performance to reach the expectant high neutron flux density, which poses challenges to the current technology. In conjunction with other domestic agencies, FDS Team has successfully developed 350kV/50kW ultrahigh voltage DC switching power supply using a series of innovative design, achieving the high availability and the high security of the ultrahigh voltage power supply, and improving the electromagnetic compatibility and the radiation-proof performance.

The successful development of the ultrahigh voltage DC switching power supply will enhance the scientific research and R&D level, and promote the development of high performance indexes of special power supply technology. Meanwhile, as the key component associated with major fusion experimental device, it will provide important technical supports for the further development of nuclear science and technology.
